Guideline 4.0 can directly open .prt files, if on the same PC NX is installed and correctly licensed.

Once the part is converted to bly, NX license is released and the model can be clamped and saved in a .bly file as usual

Procedure

  1. In Guideline 4.0, open the workpiece from a .prt file;

  1. A "NX2Bly Setting" window will pop-up: those settings regulate the conversion from .prt to .bly geometry, including layer settings, NX assembly load options and Team Center access;

  1. The part is then converted in Bly and open, ready for clamping;
  2. Should the stock be needed, it can be either created or imported: this last option works with .prt files as well, which is particularly useful in case of shaped stocks

  1. It is possible to save .bly file anytime.
  2. After completed and created .bly, in NX open a part where you want to add clamping subassemblies (or create a new one);
  3. From GL2NX Integration, "Import Clamp from Bly file" and select the .bly with th clamp(s): NX will import the clamp definition and open the related .prt as components;

Clamp(s) is now defined and imported in NX as subassembly: all NX assembly functions are available, as well as Guideline 4.0 (seats creation option).

"OPEN .PRT" interoperability supports file update: should a new revision of the workpiece or stock become available, Guideline detects it and asks for update confirmation when opening .bly file

Once clamps have been added to NX assembly, Guideline can then create seats (see Create subtraction (FCS Seats))
